Case Study: Oitavos Dunes

Oitavos Dunes engaged AMV to design, build, and market a new website to showcase their world class golf course on Portugal's famed Estoril Coast.

The Challenge

Oitavos Dunes is part of a larger resort complex owned by the Champalimaud family and operated by their company, Quinta da Marinha. The golf course was designed by Arthur Hill, and has received international acclaim for its challenging, links-style play. It is ranked within the top 100 courses in the world, and has hosted several European Tour events. The challenge was to create a site that utilized elements of other Quinta da Marinha properties, while also showcasing the remarkable beauty of the golf course and the Estoril Coast.

The Process

We began by researching other premier golf venues, gathering data and ideas as to what pages and features should be considered for inclusion on the new website. We worked with the property owners to develop a sitemap, and then created a series of mockup of design ideas for their review. After discussion and subsequent modifications, we turned the approved design into HTML and built the shell of the site.

We created several unique features specifically for Oitavos Dunes, including a Hole by Hole video tour and several flash-oriented mailer forms found throughout the site.

The Solution & Results

As we do with all of our website builds, we fully optimized the Oitavos Dunes site to perform well organically in the search engines. This included keyword research, title tags and meta data, inbound linking, and website analytics inclusion.

The owners of Oitavos Dunes are very happy with their new website, and have engaged AMV to provide long term website update and marketing support.
